@JKLnHYD The problem is that just observing can show there is something fundamentally different about these goblins. If they have any connections to their equivalent of military intel, then they failed HARD in not noticing the difference in behavior.

@Drifter Different behavior, not killing something fundamentally different, protecting this being... yup, not obviously something to observe longer to figure out why.

Also... why I can't take the soldiers seriously? They just sound like hunters who don't hunt for food/to protect, but for sport. If those end page bios for the monsters are within the universe rather than for OUR benefit, then they already know this is kind of a problem to just cause the extinction of a local population.
That elf guy said not to give the MC to the army, so they are a separate branch of something, possibly the equivalent of forest rangers? Then they fucking suck at their jobs because they have no awareness of behavioral difference.

It makes sense why they would want to exterminate monsters, since normally they’re aggressive and kill people, but it was clear as day to readers that these specific monsters meant no harm, since they were tamed by our MC. Really sad but unfortunately understandable ;-; author did well making us care for these guys so killing them in a heart-wrenching way meant something (at least, better than most isekai)

@GrimThoughts The issue here is though that whoever the attacking force is failed miserably at gathering intelligence. The idiot scout should have realized after two seconds that there was something strange happening, and seeing a "human/humanoid/demon" leading them while doing basic things to survive, should be fascinating since it is obviously not their regular behavoir.


@Boomburst Since they obviously don't kill to cull populations or whatever, and just hunt for sport, you are spot on. Shittiest scout ever.
