@JavelinJoe I read the web novel a couple years ago and this fight wasn't treated as important as they make it seem in the manga, at least from what I remember, It might also be from how slowly the manga gets updated as well so it's making it seem longer, but then again like you said, the MC basically just used this guy to fellate his ego for 2.5 chapters, when he could have just swooped in and saved his sister and love interest without any annoying bells and whistles attached.

Maybe he was trying to punish the bad guy by drawing it out but it didn't seem like he was at all, It seemed more like he was just trying to show off his superiority rather than punish the villain for kidnapping his loved ones. Not a great look when his main focus should have been on ending the fight asap to limit the mental anguish the two girls would experience.
