@justforthelulz Holy moly, where did you get that picture from? and yes, this manga has reference left and right. It's just... I don't know all of them, sowee :<
@Optimist Is Godzilla Karen some sorta reference? Sadly I don't think there's a part 2 to this story, but we can hope, right? Hope Ison has a better life :<
@SquigglesJP No, it's not. The impact Shiodoa had was swift and resulted in total destruction.
@Pyoro
The issue here is that Shiodoa lied on TV where that was broadcasted to the whole population throughout the solar system about the lobster fishery. If she was just critiquing the use of it, then likely only the poor on Ganymede would have bought it which was the original target consumer in the first place.
Her lies quickly destroyed her love interest's life and of a liked food for those around it.
@Guolker
Worse, they hadn't seen each other since they're lab was closed down.
@Pyoro >approve of eating cats, dogs, horses, monkeys
I do. And in fact I did eat them. All of them. I don't like it too much but I did. And if you tell me to stop then you're a bigot who need to learn to respect cultural diversity. How do you like that now?
Side note: I don't even know how horse made into the list. They taste just like beef.
@instant_noodle I just regret I was too lazy to edit in the "of course someone will now come and point out that they actually do"-part, which pretty much was my first thought after writing that. Whatever. It's really not the point.
@Pyoro What's wrong with eating horse? It's almost like beef. From purely meat producing animal perspective, I can't see too much difference between a horse and a cow other than yield, and you do eat beef(unless you're veggie or hindu), right?
I hope she gets knocked down a few pegs from this but sadly i think the repercussions for ison are probably a lot worse.
I'm not even going to attempt to understand the costs and logistics of running a space lobster shipping business but if its like any small business on earth he is most likely in debt and very likely in the dumps somewhere if he hasn't offed himself.
@Pyoro
Horse is not really casual food. Only small number of Horse who is old and can not participate in the tournament will be sold to the restaurant. Some will be stay with their owners for their rest life. Some is old and dead will be buried.
So it is not really casual, I haven't eat a horse meat once.
About the food taboo, well, in this chapter I feel none, that creature is just like lobster, and she tried so hard to make whole humanity in universe not able to eat it anymore. She make tons people loss job, loss food. She deserved her karma for her rest life. I wish Ison will not met her. She is just selfish centered woman, she thinks for animal but brought humanity down.
I decline she as human, She should stay with those lobster for the rest of her life.
@Pyoro Eating horse meat is normal. It has been consumed by different cultures throughout history. Soldiers ate them when their food ran out.
And what happened in this manga isn't really the same with what you said. That professor had been eating lobsters normally and only stopped after discovering an intelligent crustacean. The lobsters aren't the same as the intelligent crustacean. She doesn't eat them, it is fine, but she doesn't have the right to impose her idea on other people and publicly ruined other people's lives. She should respect other people's choice. Her action is similar to the radical vegans.
