I dont think she has given up, more so that she has accepted that she is always going to end up being the "lonely one" in their trio. However, Ayabe seems to trust her a lot to let her "guard" Usami. So, she likely isn't too against him being close to her too. Maybe even to the extent of them being friends with benefits, where she also lets her babysit Usami when she is away. Although that may be a bit of a stretch.
