I think I found the plot. Basically I bet the girl is there to help the prince find a gift or make something for MC (birthday or wedding request...?!) and all this in secret so that she doesn't know and it remains a surprise (something also in the royal bookshop maybe?).
And if the prince smiled it was because he was thinking of MC or talking about her (or some other shit of the sort).
