@Radlife maybe there are things that cant be hastened that are useful for general progression. I hope you dont think that pouring american government money into the american spaceflight programs in the ‘50s and ‘60s had not affected your (and every other human beings, american or not) life in many ways despite the fact that you never got into space. And im talking about at least 25 years of research.

Like for summoning a demon you would have to create the neccessary safety measures so shit wont go south in a minute. Researching good safety measures is usually a step that takes a long time (take motorsports for example). Skip that step and the result is shown in this chapter. Do you think this research in this state could be shown to anyone despite the possible future implications? (Free labour for example)
That major’s mentality was like “we are content with short term researches like refridgerators and ovens so we dont need your long term research.”

Btw the other principals are so shortsighted in their own magic type they did not even notice (and never would) you could combine fire and wind magic to make a hairdryer for example.
