I've been asked the same question by others before, and honestly, I'd say just fuck it and watch them in chronological order. I personally watched them in release order, and while it was enjoyable, and the leaving out of certain parts kept me in suspense, I think it makes far more sense if it's watched in chronological order (obviously I guess lol).

It's very simple to see chronological order. Near the middle, you can see that it starts with Kizumonogatari (they're movies), then continues with Nekomonogatari: Kuro, Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, so on and so forth.

If you watch by release order, you're going to see a bit of jumping around which can be a headache. Regardless Bakemonogatari should be your first as it will quickly tell you if you will like it or not and makes the rest of the plot digestible.

That's the way the anime was released and it's the recommended order if you watch the anime (and don't read the LN). The LN order is a bit different, but the anime is adapted in a way that makes the broadcast order the intended watch order.

It's actually rather simple, but for some reason, people love to act like it's super complicated. Not helped by some making idiotically huge charts that are completely unnecessary and serve no purpose except to turn people off Monogatari.

Do not watch it in chronological order (unless it's a rewatch). It's one of those works that you're not supposed to watch like that, something that, for some reason, is hard to grasp for some people, despite being far from unique. And really, Monogatari is not as confusing as some make it out to be, so there's really no need to watch it like that.

@smalltiddyoneetan I've listened to that song for a long time now, since my high school senior years or so. Good song, but I don't think it can go far. But who knows? We've seen so many surprises already.
