@alacaelum we already know it is, and not only for the father. They said at some point that it wasn't strange for parents to abandon their baby, since raising a demon child can be very dangerous for the them. If anything, Lorem and the new girl are probably the abnormal ones, though the trend has probably been changing in the more recent years.
