2-3 chapter ago i gave a spoiler for those who wanted to know where we are at in the novel. I am here to update that post. So click if you wanna know.

So last time i did this, I mentioned how they got back from their first date, but the mother still won't accept her feelings. Then her daughter basically said that she will take Mc for herself which what me and other thought it was to provoke the mom. We were right? Lemme explain. That all happened at the end of volume 2. Volume 3's prologue came out and it was like a backstory for Miu. At the end she stated that she loved the boy who always played with her aka the MC. Volume 3 starts and it's basically the daughter and mom going back and forward. What we learn is, the daughter is doing this to help the MC get closer to the mom, but is she really? As stated, she loved him in the prologue, but she says that she's pretending in the first chapter. In all honesty, we just gotta wait and see the next update

It's what explains the difference between something like Kiss X sis, where the MC there was raised with his stepsisters from age 4 or so, and Domestic Girlfriend, where the MC got his stepsisters at age 17. 11-12 is right around the point where that effect ends, and that seems to be the case here when this story's MC got adopted. Wheras Usagi drop had the child adopted at like age 4 IIRC

@raze2012 Usagi drop didn't work because he was too much of a dad. It betrayed us. Also, it should be noted that the boy wasn't adopted. She was his neighbor and a sexy older sister type. She's technically too young to be his mom (though just a bit too young).

@deathmailrock I don't think our points are mutally exclusive to begin with. Just wanted to give background to why people may feel one way about one work and another way about another work.

as you put it, there's a deeper reason to why certain works "betray us".

@raze2012 Well, if a story that started out the first half as one of the most heartwarming stories about a man adopting a daughter and then getting along with a single mother who perfectly matches him suddenly turns to him not marrying that perfect match and instead marrying his daughter....

Can betrayal not be the only word to describe it?

If it were a story about an adopted daughter being in love with her father, it might not have been as big of a deal.

@crossrook I mean, to be honest, even if she WAS her mom, Oyakodon ending would still be technically possible. But there aren't many authors with the courage to go for poly- endings, so 99.99% doubt it.
