@princess_daphie I think what some people are forgetting is that this is not simply just old dude lustfully giving into a young girls temptations; this is an old dude who's been mentally drained because of his work/daughter and it just happens that the one person who supports him (and he even says care for him) just happens to be a minor

In some countries she's ready to be married by whatever aged man (just as in Qatar). Imo the main problem within them is the age gap, something that will not change even when she'll turn adult. Plus she's his daughter's friend as the same title says and the daughter will never accept their relationship, minor or adult.

I'm in my 30s, and 16 year old kids legit act and look like small children to me. He's older than I am and see's no problem with this- I think most normal older people would look at that 16 year old and realize she's nowhere near mature or grown enough to be having a relationship with a 40+ year old man. It's creepy. Her being 2 years close to consent isnt the issue- men that find girls her age attractive are not the ones you want around your daughters.

@Blanche it's funny, because i guess it's different for everyone, and it probably also depends on each's own level of self-perceived self-righteousness, but i don't feel that different than i felt when i was 16. i'm 40.

@princess_daphie You've got 24 years of extra experience over your 16 year old self, whether you feel the same or not. I feel like we all change in ways we don't realize since these changes happen over time. I certainly don't feel 34 but here we are. If I read things I wrote at 16 I am definitely a different person, but I'm hard pressed to ever see that until then.

Not gonna lie, it kind of weirds me out how people want to justify his relationship with her. It's bad on all sides, but that doesn't mean I don't feel bad for both of them. Both of them are going through some really crummy stuff in their life and each other finds some sort of solace in the others company. Personally, I would really like it to stay platonic, and I'm saying that as someone who can look the other way concerning things like true blue incest, so an age gap on its own doesn't frighten me (I admittedly prefer they at least be adults unless their ages are close). I just feel like them complicating it with something like an actual romantic or simply physical relationship is only going to make the fallout that much bigger and honestly it doesn't even seem like either of them are totally aiming for that angle anyway. She acts suggestive all the time but I think she's more just doing whatever she thinks she has to in order to stay close to him, rather than properly desiring him as a man. Remember that dream she had where he was a small dog peeing on her? That's not sexual attraction. And he is constantly rejecting her advances and has only started to allow that barrier to be tested since he's starting to feel the walls coming in around him.
