Musume no Tomodachi - Vol. 6 Ch. 51 - Heavy Mist

"mom's most important treasure'? jeez, even when shes being a sly manipulative cunt, she just cant help but bring out her possessive nature

I think it is very important to understand that the mom (much like many other characters in this story) is more than 2 dimensions. At the base level she is a manipulative bitch, but digging deeper would most likely be pain and anger from her husband and his (I assume) infidelity. Thus, she has conflicting emotions when it comes to Koto. While she hates the idea of being left alone by anymore of her family, she likewise hates that Koto reminds her of Koto's father. I doubt the mother believes she is lying when she tells Koto she loves her and does not want her to leave, but she cannot help but act horribly manipulative despite this.

This is in no way saying that what she is doing is okay, as I still believe she is unfit to be raising a child in her current mental state. I forgot who it was, but someone commented something to the effect of "this series will make you think things are getting better before making you depressed every 3 chapters".

Hahah...
Look like they had manipulation route.. why i see like a Yuri tag?
So this worst the old man got to jail and ended lonely..
He get heartattack to know what is truth

Man, this father suffers a lot. Hope he can have a better family and life in his next life
BTW, I have no any sympathy towards any female character in this manga, not now and maybe never. 🙄

Ouch dude. This is a damn roller coaster for me and my emotions. I can't really hate any of the messed up crap that the characters had to go through and they just have to muddle through their own situations while society in general would be appalled, disgusted or unsupportive of their respective plights.

Reading a chapter of this manga is kinda like being underwater just before you run out of Oxygen.

I wonder if Miya will care for her dad niw, maybe it would be finally a good thing.

@Cencourang normally I don't have those kind of dark thinking in how a series will end, but damn the life of the guy got f*cked up hard and he kinda drive himself into a corner with the mix of emotions (actually wanted to help her, as he couldn't with his own daughter, the feels of being needed and the clearly depression he has since well the start of the series) but still he needs a rest but society isn't forgiving at all specially with how manipulative the mom is and we already know the daughter will throw him unto the bus and probably is gonna f*ck his life further next time. (at least with an insurance his daughter will get some money, even if she isn't thankful)

I don't think the mother is being manipulative. She seems to be mentally unstable and she just wants to keep her daughter as that is all she has left. I can't even really hate her. She sucks but she is just way too pitiful.
