@Amplify this is JRPG. last boss is inevitable ancient evil that destroy the world.
simplest and easiest solution is to use hero's party that is confirmed to win in the game. brainlessly follow event until world is saved.

I understand you guys' reasoning but I still can't take the mc been "careful" at all, it just seems to me that he's been paranoic.
If you know the scheme of things you can plan ahead of what you need to do to beat the lass boss,
he himself said that he does know the plot so the whole story is in his mind, he just need to plan. Instead of passively watch.
This isn't Falling In Love With The Villainess where the world itself is influencing the plot.

Now what could he do? He does
create a mercenario group that he didn't really needed to create, he intentionaly butts in the story
that helps the hero's party sometimes, but he could have gone deeper into that idea or choose the role of a To Be A Power In The Shadows since the beginning.

The mc knows who is the last boss and his goals, it's not like he just read half of the story. So he could indeed think about a new strategy instead of just following the natural flow like a paranoid. Also, just like Erika, the others hero's party's members could also be as strongh as she's if training since the beginning, the mc knows the attacks so he could have trained them just like he trained himself.

I can't help but think that all of that are artificial problems that the author created.
I mean, the last boss could just be assassinated. He isn't some kind of Final Fantasy's last boss.

I also still remember what I'm guessing is 2 chapters later,
where he let's some tears flow down his cheek.
I'm amazed I can remember so much of the beginning despite being up to date.

The final boss isn't some ancient entity from the times beyond, there's an intelligent & free thinking human being involved who can and will adjust their plans accordingly if they smell things going wrong.

You included me too, but I totally agree with you. I used 'careful' in a quote, but I argued against considering MC as careful. Not to mention that I totally agree that he should be making plans that include changing the plot, as long as he consider what may happen after he makes those changes.

No one has claimed that the plot of the game influences the plot of this story. @Simpleton said that it's a possibility that right now the MC can't rule out. This given MC current knowledge. He said MC was wise for considering the possibility, he didn't claim that the game actually influences the world. I just replied to him, and I didn't change that premise. I used an if. If that was the case then MC strategy wouldn't be better than mine, so adding that scenario can't justify MC's choice. To conclude: that's a straw man, as no one claimed that.

People went to war all the time, and it was against "intelligent & free thinking [...]" People are still going to war, companies make commercial wars, countries make economic wars. People fight with abstract war games like chess or go. They are all against humans. It's not a big deal. Even his current situation happens in war all the time. It's like having a good report from a trusted spy about the plans of an enemy. Sometimes the best is to do nothing, sometime it's better to act. Not considering a possibility is just foolish.

I remember the original Harold not being a dual wielder and here's the adult Harold with the gem sword drawn. I'll think of it as a foreshadow

Of her hiding in the closet by servant to find out MC actually a good guy. Does this not happen in the manga? I think that scene was beautiful and made a spark in the MC dark life
 
Haha, the first slide. If he had control over Harold's body I would've imagine him spitting the water out instead of holding it in.
