My Secretly Hot Husband - Ch. 16

...wearing armor makes you seem afraid? I would rather think it makes you look bloody prepared to fight on the front, it would, in fact, make you seem braver.

What kind of idiotic concept brings someone to think that armor makes someone look afraid. Wearing armor is bloody common sense when entering the battlefield, Lord or no lord. And when it is a lord it indicates said lord is prepared to fight and die.

The backstab, that’s rough. Man killed his allies just for a few bits of shiny rocks. Tch, the sins of man has already penetrated other races.

where the f is her armor? DX
why didnt they have a heart to heart while putting on her armor. you arent going to be looking scared by being in armor

@ktmaa if i remember correctly the lord, mc's husband, beat them up in the past and theyre mad about it

Wait, was their castle always THE castle? Am I just forgetting things? I'm probably just forgetting things.

@Elmithian: Regardless of the facts, you will find a lot of claims that X or Y group did so historically (usually far removed from the facts): That the Picts charged into battle naked and tatooted with woad to frighten people and show their bravery (which they probably did not, and yikes that would be cold in northern Scotland!), or that that was why various Ancient Greek and contemporaneous soldiers didn't wear armour (realistically, that may have had more to do with being poor...).

So it's not like the author is pulling the idea from nowhere. Indeed, it even seems a very reasonable notion to pop into the head of our book-learned but inexperienced protagonist. The only thing that's really at all wrong with the picture is grandma going, "okay, sure kid, you sound like you know what you're doing". XD

@ReRead earlier they say that that level of greed is unique and given for them. Rather than the influence of man I think it's just how that species behaves

Bastian is steadily becoming my favorite Custodes!granny.

@Diamondmya25 - yep, pretty much this. If you must blame mankind for anything, be that they are more cunning and can use that to trick the monsters' greed.

@Elmithian
I think we all agree that no normal person would go on a battlefield without armor, but you have to keep in mind she's trying to impersonate a grand demon, so as to intimidate them.
The concept of wearing an armor is in itself "I wear it to avoid being injured", but this, in other word, implies that "without an armor I COULD be injured".
As she is impersonating a great demon, she HAS to make them think she is not afraid to be injured in battle because she is a lot more powerful than them and they could never even scratch her.
Being seen wearing an armor like every other "weak" human could create doubts if she really is a great demon, and she is trying to avoid this.

@FumaHD
I think demonifying the armor (appearance wise) could have done just as good of a job. But I do see your point.

No excuse for the soldiers not wearing any armor though.

Kind of hard to feel anything about a "I remember when you were young, look how much you've grown..." scene when we didn't like. Actually see any of her childhood.

@Elmithian they are wearing armor though, padded cloth armor. (yea some actual plate armor would be ideal but padded armor isn't useless or anything, and given how according to her 100 of those gold coins basically was all they could scrounge up they might not be able to afford the cost of maintenance of chain mail or plate armor. )

i don't know if it's a flimsy premise or something that will be subverted later, but wtf, the demons are way less evil than the humans here. the imps just wanted eat someone (ok i get it, you're enemies by nature's way) and the golem is attacking the castle because of revenge for attempted genocide. like...????
