I love Lan so much. She immediately told Lerunda to doubt the kingdoms and to not run off to offer herself for the beastfolk's protection.
There has been so many cliches in manga where characters would run away to sacrifice themselves in order to protect their friends, only to find out that that sacrifice just pretty much condemned their friends since the villain no longer needs to hold back.

I don't know if the Lerunda was told directly, but someone said that the miko's will is assisted by god basically. so w.e the miko wants they basically get. If people go against it they are crushed. those who try to help the miko are rewarded.
