@ElBichoRaro doesn't sound rigth to me ,cats give birth in secure places (that can't be acsessed by anything that migth eat the kittens) and they birth more than 1 kitten as far as I know

Mother cat will often move the kittens because the afterbirth can attract other animals. She carry the kitten one by one in her mouth but something could've disrupted the mother cat, which could be something innocuous or tragic. But let's just believe that she was discovered with the rest of her kittens by a rescue worker and is living a comfortable indoor life with some grandma.
