That was a pretty harsh response, especially when she told him as a way to entertain him. I get he might think its an odd story or she might be a little weird but there's no reason for him to be condescending. The way he said things, he's not really concerned about her well being, he was just mocking her. Of course only a small glimpse of his character but if that's his normal behavior to others, maybe an alien inhabiting him might be an improvement.
