There was a manga chapter of a manga I sort of forgot the title of, that did exactly that. It was hilarious, because all characters were drawn in the typical manga style, but when the manga-ka of the group drew the individuals it looked like a photo in a gritty realistic style. Not quite a traced photo, but human like with human proportions.
It was such an amazing, simple, yet unexpected idea, that I was awestruck for like 10 seconds and mumbled: That's genius.
