Realistically if the humans are really so down in the dumps like this story is trying to portray, everything would be run by the military with no room for incompetence among the higher ups considering that one mistake from up could lead to the extinction of humanity. Kinda like how it is in Owari no Seraph.

Why do the backgrounds suddenly feel... Empty/non-expressive? I've read longer dialogues before but these ones don't seem all that important/interesting, even if it's supposedly for world building purposes
The art feels pretty bland, the shadows/shades don't look so distinctive between the gray area & the black area for some reason

The commander himself maybe incompetent but it seems like he knows how and who to delegate powers and responsiblities. Which is a sign of good leader. I think thats the reason why he wasn't removed by a coup.
