Just because the translation team didn't put it in another language or use the symbols the raw does (Page 13) it does not mean it wasn't intended to be something hard to read. They just decided to use a "fancy" script with what it actually says instead of the original symbols. That said, yes, I literally groaned when she read the damn thing out loud. Almost makes we want to stop reading with how completely stupid that was. Smells a lot like plot hammering to me (as in, "I want this to happen, so no matter how stupid or against character it is, it shall be so to move the story in the way I want").
