@icarushector @starburst98 Whiskey specifically, at a guess. The alcohol content in them is actually low enough that you'd probably throw up just from eating so much chocolate before you even got decently buzzed by stuff like that, but it's a fairly common joke in manga and anime for someone to eat like one of them and get completely blasted. Perhaps we can say him being such a small child plus just having a naturally low tolerance played a role here.

@Glomoro I once ate two of those fuckers on an empty stomach when I was a teenager and could actually feel a slight buzz. Don't take alcohol candy lightly.

@Troglodyte Sounds like the placebo effect, honestly. Unless for some reason you had ones that weren't regulated the same way as any of them generally would be nowadays. When exactly are we talking about, here? I'd put money on you experiencing an old timey alcohol candy that wasn't cracked down on yet rather than two modern ones doing anything to anyone.

@Glomoro They have nicely enough alcohol to fool a breathanalyser to give good readings, if eaten just before blowing into the device. I imagine in Russia you might still find strong liquor chocolates. Where I live, the wt% of alcohol is under 3 in the most popular varieties. I don't actually know if it's limited by law somehow, but perhaps it is to keep the stuff on normal candy shelves in shops.

@Kaarme Yeah, it's been a while since I last looked into it but I believe there was a fairly low amount allowed in them because they're food, or to prevent them from requiring quite the same restrictions as actual liquor would for sales? That could vary from country to country pretty significantly, of course. Honestly, the thing I remember best is way too anecdotal to matter much so I'd have to look stuff up again to get anything more specific.

@Glomoro When i was a kid, we found a box and didn't know what they were. We didn't realize they were alcoholic. We got pretty lit, both me and my sisters. Parents didn't realize they were alcoholic till we were acting drunk. Then they checked the box. To us they were just chocolate so we gobbled em up. I think the min alcohol content on that box was 2.5% and max was 5%. It was these ones.
