There are cases where people disappeared and then appeared somewhere else without knowing how they got there, in some cases they disappeared for many years then came back looked exactly like when they disappeared. Some scientists speculated that a wormhole is the cause. Ancient Japanese thought that it is due to gods or youkai kidnapped people and called that kamikakushi. No one has been able to explain this phenomenon.
