Neko no Otera no Chion-san - Vol. 5 Ch. 40 - Adulthood, a Sense of Duty and Chion.

So does yoko like mc? is that why she pretties up? or is it just cus she wants to. A bit confused cus of how she acts towards him.

the poor tomboy didn't get a SINGLE compliment.

why you gotta treat her like that?!

@FredFriendly Been a while since I read the earlier chapters, but it was hinted that Chion likes him but unsure because of his circumstances, like age, or what he'll do once he finishes school. Chion wants to save the temple, but she don't know what Gens long term plans are. If you look at the previous work of the author, it's quite similar in terms of pacing.

@Tcof
2 thing i still don't get this girl. Why he into MC ? Why she rude to MC ?
She's rude because she's a tsundere.

i don't remember anyone say anything about marry.
My mind's a fog without my morning cup of coffee, but I have the impression that, in some earlier chapter, it was implied that Grandma wants Chion to marry the young priest so that he can take over the temple.

@Istvan90623 That sounds quite plausible. At this rate, we probably won't know Chion's real feelings until the very last chapter (if then).

It's an interesting love triangle, Gen is worried about Chion not seeing him as a guy because he is into her but he is not seeing the girl who is into him as a girl.

@burningknuckle same could be said of almost any tradition, but traditions themselves serve a purpose. They engender community, continuity, and respect for one's place in both. Without traditions we are adrift in time, with no reason to care for our past nor for our future to care for us.

why hooman why?
