Nice recommendations here, with many of my favourites: YKK (my no.1), Yotsubato, Hinamatsuri, Maiko-san etc. Not many surprises though, so I guess it's up to me to come up with mangas that aren't currently popular. Here's a couple:
https://mangadex.org/title/1563/mahoraba : A romcom with a setting heavily inspired by Maison Ikkoku, like so many others. Very funny, very sweet, lots of weird twists and with many interesting side characters.
https://mangadex.org/title/16073/goshiki-no-fune: Short (1 volume) story about a traveling freak show trying to survive in Japan during WWII. Award-winning masterpiece.
