For a second I thought the strange accent coming out of nowhere was part of a gag for the thief or something but I guess it might have been part of the character that was left out of previous translations. Not sure how I feel about it.

Kansai dialect (or any dialect really) is a bit tricky to translate. If you translate just the meaning, it'll come out exactly like standard Japanese so any character uniqueness is lost. On the other hand, you have to find a way to keep it unique but not feel too forced. Usually translators opt for a southern or mid western American accent when translating Kansai and sadly it can feel weird if not done right.
Unrelated but, Kansai ben is my favorite JP dialect.
@singlove i guess. there are other ways to convey foreign accents without substituting it for another. for example i think the easiest to do without ruining the flow of the manga is maybe font with an explanation note of on the side just for the first time it appears. this way you still get a bit of the sense of difference with out it again a bit annoying or tedious to read.
Oh man. It really feels like they're gonna end the series after this game's conpletion. All these game characters design based on the characters themselves. It's like a 'end of story' flag
