NEW GAME! - Vol. 9 Ch. 95

Concept art is important, and is the flashy highlight of a game, but the UI is the part a player will experience the most. They might see the epic cutscene or screenshot once the whole time they play. But they will use the UI from start to finish. The little ping sounds Zelda and Pokemon menus make, the menu/quest icons for Destiny and Dragon Age, the command consoles for StarCraft and WOW. UI is so goddamn important, and it flies under the radar too often.

(Friend designs UI and Visual Interface. It is NOT easy. So I wanted to give that shoutout.)

@mogu you know I think that's actually on purpose, I think Aoba is still actually the star, because during this arc they have paid attention to most everyone else, but most everyone else is just going through the "you can do more than you thought" phase. THey're not really going to develop much as characters during this arc, with the exception of the girl who's game this is (I keep forgetting her name) however Aoba is going to get a lot of character developement from this.

I would almost believe this, if Aoba actually got any character development during the arc. But she never actually grows or changes. Sh just keeps getting different jobs that are then emphasized as being extremely important work. So it ends up looking more like an after-the-fact justification for her losing the contest, with constant narrative elements explaining how extremely important whatever job she's doing is before immediately being given another extremely important job. Meanwhile Momiji and Hajime both barely even appear in the arc supposedly centered on them.

Don't underestimate the difficulty of making UI design, it can be a nightmares... also i hate it, if some devs -for some unknown reason, are only using asset UI with a bare minimum function on their game

How the hell does a game studio that size not have a single dedicated UI designer? Its staple series is an RPG. That's a ton of work that has a huge impact on the final project. Just winging it with someone who has never done that sort of work before is insane.

It doesn't matter the situation, the precedents, the experience of the workers or the possible consequences: the only thing it matters when taking decisions is to screw Aoba...

Aoba: I feel a bit conflicted, but I still genuinely think it's better that it turned out this way.
Everyone reading: Why does Aoba keep getting screwed over?!
