If you wanna call this story stupid and a whole bunch of other less than flattering things, you're probably right. But how is this an asspull? He's a vampire in the middle of awakening his powers. That has been so thoroughly established. It doesn't make it a better story because it was firmly established, but how is it an asspull when it's been the entire idea of the story?
