The 'diver' is actually an octopus mimicking a human, so when he saw 'another one mimicking a human' he got excited at finding a kindred spirit. After his excitement, he became hungry and ate the camera person. This doesn't explain how the 'diver' was able to speak like a human underwater, so it's not very immersive/horrific.
