@fakeirish It's not just blackmail though.... it's also karma.... if he didn't force his childhood friend to be the saintess, he wouldn't be stuck as the hero.... so if you think about it.... what he's doing is actually community service.... not really blackmail...

Thanks for the chapter and picking this up (even if it is only temporary or on the side). This was a hidden gem for me.
Now on the chapter, I kinda have to agree with the trash MC's thoughts at the beginning of the chapter. 1) Why are you dumping all this heavy background information on some random stranger you just met? It's weird and honestly kinda wrong to burden someone completely unrelated (and you don't know) with some really REALLY heavy shit (unless it's their job to be burdened; there's a clear difference in going to a stranger with this info dump and going to a therapist or police officer with it). 2) Yeah, if you're going to apologize immediately after DON'T FREAKING WAY IT. I am a firm believer that unless it's an honest mistake, if you actually meant sorry you wouldn't have done it in the first place (like cheating on your spouse and then saying "sorry" when you get caught; there's too many steps and too much time involved for that sorry to be worth anything). The same goes for here, she had to prepare a way too much to say for any of it to have "slipped" or otherwise not be intentional. It reminded me of this show or movie (really forgettable whatever it was) where a character brought up their past and said how terrible and traumatic it was, but then when pressed for more info said "I don't wanna talk about it", THEN WHY DID YOU BRING IT UP? The Mc is a better person than me. I would have told her to drown the police (Knights? Whoever enforces the law there) in her problems and don't tell this serious matter to some random peasant she met (it sounded like just knowing it could get you killed by the noble to keep his image safe). That self righteous sword can go suck it. Playing hero is how you get dead. It's harsh, but normal people can't save everyone they come across and we shouldn't be reprimanded for wanting to not die trying to fix someone else's life when we still have ours to enjoy. Even his plans for a Comfortable life should be fine. Sure it's shrewd, but he's not planning anything illegal or particularly (I mean, he could have trained everyday to be a thief and murder people for their money or even have planned to marry a rich women to kill her and steal her fortune). I enjoy the MC and main heroine (should I call her that? She doesn't play the traditional "heroine" role) because I find their motivations and goals refreshing and conversations with each other hilarious, but that sword is beyond annoying and frustrating.
