@GuardianCraze If not, it's probably a balancing thing for how powerful it is. She said the thing had basically the same stats as her and didn't take up a party slot, so maybe they made the trade off the need to purchase it at the skill shop once per use or something like that to weigh its power against its inconvenience. Wouldn't really be the strangest gold sink I've ever heard of in a game even if a bit unconventional, either.
