Nozomanu Fushi no Boukensha - Vol. 1 Ch. 4 - To Town

Ah.

@b33fy beat me to it in regard to the standard English spelling.

ETA:

@depzdai

Ah. A cursed mask. How nice. Hopefully the only negative effect is that it can't be taken off; there's always the hope of a remove curse sometime in the future, and it's still presenting a more acceptable appearance then he would otherwise...

Actually, it might prove useful... "Hey, it's not my fault I look like this, it's just this cursed mask I'm wearing. Oh, detect undead is going off in my presence? Must be the mask."

As I posted last chapter, while smart in some ways, she isn't that clued into what's involved with being an Adventurer; always be suspicious of prices that are too good to be true, there's probably a very good reason for the low price.
Actually, I think that reflects being the offspring of a high-ranking family that failed to properly instruct their children in the realities of frontline existence; if all your training is to be a middle/upper management type, you don't understand what the people at the frontline actually deal with.
That's why some families insist on their children working their way up from the bottom, without any preference extended to them other than access to the best education available. It gives them a better understanding of the overall operation, and earns the respect of those whom they will eventually supervise.
Thankfully, she still turned out a pleasant well-intentioned person.

That "cursed mask" ended up being a "blessing in disguise"!

BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! For those who cringe!

The mask is cursed... but what curse exactly?? And this lady... is she a researcher or a nutjob??

so, if he Levels up enough, will he eventually become "human" again?? for me that seems plausible.

rather than human, i think he will be a monster that in human's skin.
Just like a certain slime.
Well they still do look human, so overall it's good.

Lol, that mask is pretty creepy-looking.

Reading "Wite" and the TL note made me laugh. Wights are undead who dwell in barrows, an older term for hills. Search 'Barrow Wight' for example. (Oh, people beat to it)

@TokenOtaku I applaud you.

@WoodyCyber Late enough reply that you may have already found more about this from the later chapters or what not, but he wants to be more human, which would be a higher class of undead, I think he mentioned vampires specifically at some point in this or a previous chapter. Currently, bits of him still appear ready to fall off of his bones at the drop of a hat so he's still gotta be pretty wary of other people seeing him without this whole gettup on. One of the traits of some of the higher undead like vampires is being hard to tell apart from humans.

Wight, not "Wite".
And shouldn't he be a little more worried about having priests casting spells on him as an undead? Probably up there in the top 5 things you'd want to avoid as an undead abomination.

"Hills" isn't exactly wrong, but not exactly right either. They were old (as in Bronze or Iron Age) burial mounds. Like super old-fashioned crypts. There are quite a few of them dotted about Britain and Ireland, though they basically are just hills now, albeit artificial ones. And funnily enough, the old myths of the Aos Sidhe (the Irish fairies) are also linked to those old burial mounds, as the word "sidhe" originally referred to the mound itself, as I recall. Like they were the spirits of the old Tuatha de Danann removed from this world.

As for Barrow Wights in particular, I believe that was Tolkien's doing. I believe, though it is decades since I read it, that Tom Bombadil warned Frodo and Sam about the Barrow Wights early on in the Fellowship of the Ring. That part was omitted from the films though (probably because Tom Bombadil is such a cheaty god-mode bastard he wouldn't be out of place as an isekai protagonist).
