Oh, no, I know. It's just a mixture of feelings.
I know that the guy is basically asexual, and only cares about his career, but on the other hand -- that kiss was a huge, huge gesture. And it was immediately thrown off the table.
Feels like, for the lack of a better word, a waste. If the MC was written to not view these swords as girls (which worked until now, hence the "maintenance"), it'd also be preferable if they don't see him as a guy as well (which applies to 2 out of the 3 Imperials).
Otherwise you get this harem bullshit scenario in which nobody is satisfied. Eh.
