Oji-san ga Joshi●sei ni Warui Koto wo Oshieru Hanashi - Vol. 1 Ch. 7

Capable of mapping out your home layout while being connected to the internet. Robot vacuums scare me.

i haven't actually paid attention to their relationship before... Pre-serialization or now... so are they blood related or not? lol I'm confused... I definitely thought they were strangers.

Y'know, now i wonder what's the history between the two, how did they met, why does Uncle spend so much time with her, etc.

@Everblaster
Original Japanese is アイツ, which can be translated as either that man or that woman or even that thing, heavily depending on the context. This is kind of an awakward situation where the most appropriate word should be that thing, as uncle knows that Lumbi is an object and Ayumu doesn't.

It would be rather weird to translate to "that thing", cuz then it would be obvious to Ayumu that Lumbi is clearly not a woman. Yet it would be also weird to translate as girl, cuz i don't know anyone who calls their sweeping robot " a she".

But I do think your suggestion is the best option as some comprimises have to be made, so thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah, "she" is probably the best compromise considering the stereotype of men feminizing machines.

@SoaringPegasus I love and hate this sort of thing. From what I have seen that vagueness is used pretty often to cause misunderstanding between characters, but there is never really a good/natural way to translate that into English.

In this case I figured he was referring to the bot as a girl much like guys refer to their boats or cars as female. In that sense "she" works fine, though not everyone is going to assume that is what he was doing. I just assumed that "that guy" was a translation error and it was supposed to be "she" or "that girl/gal"
