From what I heard he is far from self-absorbed in the later chapters. And in recent chapters, it looks like he really wants to help the people in the station compared to Gong and Yoo. Although it looks the "good" things he does always have to include a mutual benefit for him.

Can't say the same for the carpet thing though. I couldn't avoid spoilers and

it looks like he holds his tongue in some cases but eventually gets payback from when he gets screwed over

. So I guess that's a valid issue.
