I like the term "story" better. It's more poetic without using "extravagant" word like "fable" (even though they share the same meaning).

Basically I have 3 reasons:

the part with pebble! Using the word "fable" there doesn't quite nail it. Simply weird.

Mythical/narrative grade "fable" definitely sounds more weird than mythical/narrative grade "story". Fable implies some sort of mythical element to begin with, so it's kinda redundant. On the other hand, it's not always the case for "story". Hence I think the word story fits better.

Rather than fable or story, would you consider tale? It’s very similar to fable but without the baggage of fable’s most commonly understood meaning (used as a lesson for children). Tales are very commonly spread and kept alive through word of mouth in the same way (I believe!) the original Korean word means to convey. So a tale is a story but not all stories are tales.

I just really hate how awkward Fable will come across in the future, but understand that Story is not the right word either. So I hope you’ll consider Tale.

Regarding the terms, to me it goes with Story better, Fable sounds awkward to me. In future chapters, I think the word Story or even Tale would fit better the translation.

I think for 이야기 you should continue to use "Story", but for 설화 (in Constellation's grade and in the unit of strength in the future), "Tale" will probably be the best option. "Fable" is a little bit...awkward to use, and "Story" won't be correct in this case, so probably "Tale"? Anyway, thank you very much for the wonderful trans ~
