I will never understand why some translators choose to use romanized Japanese words when the english word works just as well. It's confusing to people who aren't as familiar with the language. The only reason I can think of is that the translators think it's "cute", and I suppose it would be if you can ignore all the people that won't understand the joke at all. I say this as someone who used to be horribly confused by stuff like this.

Cute story though. Translation could be better.

@SpencerSDH In the case of the 'okaasan' (which I first noticed that weirdness in and then made this explanation for myself as to why do it) it kinda makes sense:

The Japanese have this way of talking about themselves in the third person as their own 'roles' to others. Like "Let this onii-san take care of this for you!" or something like this.
You wouldn't normally say "Let this older brother take care of this for you!" in real life in an English-speaking conversation, I'd think. It's kind of a cultural thing, I guess.

You might then ask: "Why not just make her say 'I'm going to[...]' instead?"
Well, you could then miss the actual, potentially important information that this person is her mom.

So it seems like the translator decided to appeal to the 'experienced manga-reader/person with a certain knowledge of Japanese' type of person instead of the 'beginner who just very recently heard about this "manga" thing and quickly stumbled upon this' type. As the former, I appreciate this decision, what can I say...
