This is my third time reading though this series, and I'm just realising that Gaimon and Sarfunkel are a play on Simon and Garfunkel.

Fisher Tiger is Malcolm X.
I’m picking up what your putting down Oda.
Though the “Hero of the Slaves” title is makes me wonder. If it’s Malcolm Oda is actually going for but more a Harriet Tubman or Nat Turner figure.

I don't think any other villain in one piece for me so far has had such a big impact as Arlong, that guy is a great villain. This arc just gives his already good character even more depth. Hopefully we'll see him return in even If i do think that's never going to happen.
