Didn't get from where did you got that this is yaoi, from what i got is that they want to marry their lady from the clan / temple, and the first MC wanted to set / get her out from his way, for him be the first from the clan . They prayed for a man for the lady, and boom here they got if "from the waterfall"

@hoofan_1 maybe you haven't read many training mangas/novels but waterfall training is litterally classic.

No I've seen it all over the place in manga and anime...but it still doesn't make sense...

@hoofan_1 Okay. It's a classic training, it's like Kungfu taking buckets of water putting your arms straight at shoulder width and staying that way for 2 + hours.
Sure anyone can straighten their arms with water buckets. But holding that position for 2 hours? OR Horse Stance. Keeping a Horse stance for 1+ hours can be difficult too.
Imagine how long they were under that waterfall.
