Interesting. I guess we're veering, at least temporarily, into a deconstruction of the “lolicon” genre: the manga is trying to address the implications of exclusive attraction to prepubescent individuals and the lack of long-lasting romantic love this characteristic entails. And it fits with the mangaka's oblique comment in the omake on this being a yuri manga only incidentally.
@anon763 Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't Manaka being above the AoC (she's 17) the reason why she reemerged? Does Japan distinguish between age of consent and age of maturity as regards nudity?

As far as I know the age for pornography is 18 in all prefectures, meaning that Manaka's nipples have exactly the same legal status as Koko's. Fortunately, Japan has not yet made complete mockery of their entire legal system and totally undermined the rationale behind CP bans as a whole by declaring either Koko or Manaka to be legal persons, as so many other countries have done, so it's a bit beside the point.
