Lemme guess: the author was planning something like the girl asking the principal to let her to attend to the school and leave the boy alone and when the school ends she would go with them willingly or something on these lines. Oh well but got axed first.

Honestly it felt like the author just wanted to have a solid plot rather than slice of life, but the second he introduced the concept of Shinki eating people then every chapter turned into some sort of explanation from then on out. Chapter after chapter seemed to be a direct response to logical questions asked in the comments (which was very sobering). So he was likely trying to restructure his story to accommodate for this, but the way he was going about it only made me question things more. Then these guys appear and it's clear he's jumping the gun. Even if that was the plot, it's like Kei said, "Nice" Megumi isn't the one who makes the decisions, so how would that plot even resolve other than her going back on her words without a second thought? It was a fun ride while it lasted but it just seemed too....undecided?

Yeah. This development was as stupid as it was nonsensical.

I'm just dropping this series here. Either the author is rushing things because the series is being axed anyway, or the writing is just that terrible.

You know, after seeing like the fifth protagonist stand up to the bad guys while held at gunpoint instead of even considering pretending to agree with them just to get away and plan a more advantageous position... you start to miss Mirai Nikki.
And that's just the start of my problems with this chapter. My enjoyment is hanging by a thread.
Edit: Oops, looks like this is the last chapter. Well, what a waste of potential. And I kinda liked Megumi’s dual personality.
