I agree with several other comments here: I don't think it's kueh lapis.

Any cake with multiple layers of different/alternating colours is going to look like that. In the first place, kueh lapis layers are typically very thin, much thinner than this cake's.

Personally I don't really think I care whether it is or isn't that particular type of cake or not, because I'm not the one eating it. I suppose all we can do here is say "here are the possibilities for what it is" and call it a day unless the author decides to specifically point it out for some reason.

I think the thing is that being pseudo-ostracized was actually, well, triggering, in the clinical sense. Something (besides just being compared to an overachieving prodigy sister) turned him into the hikikomori we see at the start of the series — it wouldn't surprise me if his otaku status or something similar got him excluded from whatever school society he was in.

Being excluded by the girls was okay when he could justify it, but once Asahi was all "Stay away! I promised not to tell you anything!" his pessimism won.
