On r/manga, there are frequent discussions on whether threads should be made for when Jaimini’s Box and Mangastream release their own translations of Shounen Jump manga, especially since the official release through MangaPlus is usually only a few days later. The main focus, obviously, is to support the official release when available.
With that in mind, wouldn’t it also make sense to remove chapters that come from already-licensed volumes? Keep in mind I’m not calling for a purge here - what I mean, for example, is gradually removing chapters whenever a new volume release makes them obsolete. This way, not only do readers have to support the official release, but it also helps to keep attention off of MD so it doesn’t get DMCA’d like Batoto used to.
Granted, the whole controversy regarding scanslators recently has thrown a monkey wrench into all of this, so I’m not sure if a suggestion like this would fly. Is this sort of concept feasible?
