Hmm... His seed was blue, NOT red, so I'm thinking it might be a yin/yang thing here with them. The mutated creature had a red seed, aka a "seed of evil" according to that night-ark group scene a chap or two ago, so it's likely that ex-"friend" of his that got snagged by the red tentacle monster has been forcefully possessed by it and mutated, and we're gonna see him have to be taken out after he takes out the delinquents in a murderous rampage, I bet.

Did I miss a chapter? They're talking about the "inside" and "outside," and MC seems to have complete knowledge of the "spirit boost" ability, which until now he's only ever used when he was unconscious. This all seems very sudden, like I skipped a chapter where something important happened.
