Generally speaking... Why do manga protagonists follow weird advice to distance themselves from people they care about, to get this that or the other result...?
Here there's no reason she couldn't have sat down and explained why she was doing it, too, if she's going to do it.
I mean, there's the imperative of producing plot tension and all that, of course.
