Something tells me the author had a moment in theur life where they needed glasses and were made fun of so now we get a story where that traumatic event in his life is now fuel for his revenge fantasy that his glasses gave him powers its so cliche its sad

I wish it were that easy. I don't have any talent for languages though. Heck, I'm probably an order of magnitude or two worse than the average person when it comes to other languages. If it weren't for that, I'd probably have a firm grasp on Japanese by now. I've been watching anime (sub, not dub), reading manga and playing JRPGs for literally decades. Yet I only know a few words / phrases. Not even enough for a simple conversation.
