@Zreth likely reputation. The agency hasn't had a group for a while so they don't have the kind of pull to make a one idol show I bet. Whereas a group lets them take more risks because there are more people that fans can look at, and if they don't like one they can still like the other.

As for those saying about Kana as an idol, what did the chapter early on when she showed up show her as in the future? If it's actor, at least we know that an Idol Kana wouldn't be what she's known for.
