I remember they commenting about calling her Kou-chan instead of Kou-kun and they said that just Nao couldnt do it, so unless this chapter is before that other one he should know her gender..

Yeah something is wrong with the way they refer to Kou. Nao's friend know that she is a girl (they were the ones who said it to him and even made fun of him for not noticing) and there was that time when Kou was avoiding Nao because he realized she was girl (by seeing her get out of the women's bathroom) until they talked about it.

To keep it short, it doesn't make sense in-universe for them to refer to Kou with male pronouns.

Well they all already know that Kou is a girl, the misunderstanding was resolved in the chapters that's not on MD
I mean they discussed it again in ch 52 and whether they should switch calling her Kou-kun to Kou-chan

Probably just messed up the he/she in this chapter

Yeah, chapters 36-37 in volume 5, which is not in MangaDex, deals with the consequences of Nao finding Kou going out of women's restrooms. Safe to say he knows Kou's a woman.

Maybe it's a typo or something?
