I know, I'm asking why? Kou is a girl. Kou has always been a girl and aside from misunderstandings, it was never anything more than that.

AFAIK Kou has always been referred to with gender neutral and sometimes feminine pronouns. I believe the scanlators, in some of the earlier chapters, chose to use male pronouns in place of the gender neutral ones because they thought doing so was a bit more natural in dialogue.
