I’ll never understand those “tune in next week” type editor’s notes at the end of chapters. They don’t add anything and it isn’t like they’ve ever enticed someone to read the next chapter who otherwise wouldn’t have. And in more serious or action-y stories they actively detract from the impact of a dramatic chapter ending. Who or what are they for?

(Just in case there’s any confusion I’m talking about the actual editor, not the editor of a scanlation team.)
