Otome Kaijuu Caramelize

@Glomoro thanks! Man, I totally forgot about Otome Youkai Zakuro since it went into hiatus. It feels weirdly like a shoujo nevertheless. Thanks for the insights!

I was wondering why this isn't a shoujo manga but then those last few pages hit me
there's a reason why there's "kaiju" in the title

sees 9+ rating
sees Seinen demographic
*gets excited*
clicks chapter 1
reads author's note
facepalms
silently curses whoever decided to set demographic by magazine/publication instead of actual series content once again

still gonna read it anyway 😎

This last chapter perfectly explained why its an genre oddball. Loving this little metal head!

@jonsmth According to the author, it is a shoujo manga. https://mangadex.org/chapter/431639/2
The "demographic" used on various sites (including MangaDex) is based on the magazine it's printed in (Comic Alive). So, most sites list it as seinen; with one site listing it as shounen.

This irritates me more than it should.

@Perim:

I think it's generally thought that the author was perhaps being at least partially tongue-in-cheek there.

It's not tongue-in-cheek. It's also part of forgirls ComicWalker.

@Perim:

Er... I still can't tell just from those panels whether the author isn't just razzing us, personally XD

But if I do take them seriously, your complaint checks out—she's (at least initially) drawn a shoujo manga for publication in a seinen magazine, full stop (well, okay—there may be some real difference in effect because of who her editor is and/or her own perceptions of her immediate audience or some such, but we can safely ignore that).

Yet the rules about using publications for demographic on mangadex and other sites stand, so, then, it's exactly like you said in the first place. Sorry =.=;

Thank you for the chapter but having a sick mom is certainly not a lame excuse.
It makes me feel bad for the translator that delivers a lot of chapters and asks for some help with expenses to readers.
That credit page was good for everything but the "lame" word.
