Otomege Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu - Vol. 4 Ch. 19 - Clarice-Senpai

Wouldn't the most obvious answer be to lose on purpose? After all she doesn't get the prize money and only the MC's social standing and reputation go down (even more)

Like this time I really have to wonder WHY!?
First of all, to prove that Olivia is the Saintess, just let her heal him for gods sake!
Second if she can heal him in one day they why cant they see if Jilk can recover in time.
Or is it that the next race is on the same day? Because that was not stated anywhere..

MC doesn't want his reputation to go down further, decreasing his chances for marriage. Olivia and Ange is not yet at the point of being in love with him to consider them.

@BadChase
I would think maybe because it would be too early for the Saintess to be named. Chances are nobody will get to see Livia since she would have a religious status, not political. Another possible reason, which I think within Leon's line of thought, he just wants him to suffer more.

@kenrms
Anime/Manga logic for some reason uses being a hoe to deal with depression. She eventually cleaned up her act and fired her slaves, so it's all good. She's not gonna be the first non-virgin in MC's harem.

Spoilers.
Clarice got so mad after she got dumped, she bought male slaves and has fun with them every night. A fair number of her followers should have unrequited affection for her as well, and while they act as her personal simp attack squad, they don’t enjoy the path she’s heading, as she’s becoming like the rest of the cruel women at the school.

Also, Clarice is one of two girls that develops an unrequited crush on Leon, after he pulls some strings, unloads her emotional baggage, and gives her a talking to.

Que evil laugh, mhwhahahah, mwahaha( just imagine doctor evil from Austin powers)

Break the bikes and make everyone knows it’s you driving.

The first years deciding on MC as the substitute would be the same as Angie picking him as the substitute. If MC blatantly loses on purpose, it would also reflect badly on Angie. More than his own reputation (he probably doesn't care much anymore considering that he gained notoriety already), he doesn't want to get in trouble with Angie's dad, who he owes a favor to. If MC subtly tries to lose, he would just risk himself getting injured all the same - might as well go all out and win some glory I think.

@Adokun @kenrms
anime/manga really loves this troupe; girls under stress or depression? Time to fk every guy she meets!

In reality, I have seen/heard more girls binge eating or taking drugs to curb depression and stress rather than casual sex.
